Effects...

What´the butterfly effect?
A picture is worth a thousand words!
Watch the video and decide!

After watching the video Rage, I´m sure you´ll understand the butterfly effect is the phenomenon whereby a minor change in circunstances can cause a large change in outcome.

What´s the domino effect?
It´s a chain reaction that occurs when a small change causes a similar change nearby, which then will cause another similar change and so on in lineal sequency.
The term is best known as a mechanical effect, and is used as an analogy to a falling row of dominos. It typically refers to a linked sequence of events where the time between successive events is relatively small. It can be used literally (an observed series of actual collisions) or metaphorically (causal linkages within systems such as global finance or politics).

What´s the Pygmalion effect?
The Pygmalion effect, or Rosenthal effect, refers to the phenomenon in which the greater the expectation placed upon people, often children or students and employees, the better they perform. The effect is named after Pygmalion, a Cypriot sculptor  in Greek mythology, who fell in love with a female statue he had carved out of ivory after it became human from his wishes.
The Pygmalion effect is a form of self-fulfilling prophecy, and in this respect, people will internalize negative label, and those with positive labels succeed accordingly. Within sociology, the effect is often cited with regard to education and social class.

Let´s enjoy a very entertaining vision of the plot of Pygmalion Shaw´s and its origins.
